WHEN TO USE:

• • Speed Dominant Bowlers -  Speed dominant players looking for a ball that can serve as a ball down for their Evoke Hysteria will appreciate the Venom Hysteria. The lower flaring symmetrical core should be a great option after the Evoke Hysteria. The Venom Hysteria creates more down lane motion than a Venom Shock, but is not as angular or aggressive as a Nebula, giving the bowler a weaker, but comparable motion to their Evoke Hysteria.
  • Balanced - For the balanced bowlers, the Venom Hysteria is a pearl to have in the bag to fill so many gaps. When Venom Shocks are too early or smooth, the Venom Hysteria will have no problem stepping into that spot. Additionally, when the Nebula is too angular or aggressive and a tamer shape is needed, the Venom Hysteria is ideal. Lower volume or higher fiction patterns that don’t allow for the use of a Venom Shock have now met their match.
  • Rev Dominant - Those whose revs overwhelm their ball speed will appreciate the versatility and control given by combining the Propulsion MXV cover and Gear core. The fast spinning, but low flaring Gear core with a pearl designed to conquer many conditions gives the rev dominant a pearl option they can control when so many other pearls want to be erratic down lane.

When to Use

Speed Dominant Bowlers - For speed dominant bowlers it is sometimes difficult to find a pearl that is reliable and strong enough to always catch down lane and provide the necessary angle. The Apex Jackal will be an outstanding first pearl out of the bag for speed dominant bowlers.

Balanced Bowlers - For balanced bowlers, the Apex Jackal will be a staple as a dynamic and angular asymmetrical ball that doesn’t need as much friction as other pearls in the line like the Nebula or even the Steel Forge. The Apex Jackal will be the pearl that sees the lane before the very cleanest pearls are in play.

Rev Dominant Bowlers - Some rev dominant players will want to use the Apex Jackal early and on fresher patterns where an angular ball is still an option. The Supra™ line just got a serious upgrade with the introduction of the new Supra Clutch. This new release comes engineered for medium-dry lanes with more torque, more grip, and sharper cornering than any Supra before it. New Propulsion XRT Hybrid coverstock technology pairs with the original Quadfire core to hit the friction sweet spot, where precision meets power. Under the hood you will find the original Quadfire Core replaces the Quadfire V2 that was found in the Supra GT. When To Use:

Speed Dominant Bowlers - Speed dominant bowlers benefit from added differential for more flare and from faster spinning, lower RG cores. When balanced bowlers are using a Max Thrill, the speed dominant bowler should have much more luck using the Supra Clutch with the stronger coverstock, lower RG, and higher differential.

Balanced Bowlers - The Supra Clutch is an angular option for balanced bowlers who seldom see enough friction to use a Max Thrill Pearl. For those balanced bowlers who compete in longer tournament blocks, on older surfaces, or on patterns that ask for a lot of angle, but without a lot of oil, the Supra Clutch will be critical.

Rev Dominant - Crankers and most two-handed bowlers classify themselves as rev dominant. For these bowlers, lower volume oil patterns are where a ball like a Supra Clutch will shine. Last year we watched EJ Tackett win a US Open title on a lower volume sport pattern using a ball from the Supra line. The clean and angular mediumdry lane piece is actually a very important tool for rev dominant bowlers, as they are going to be forced to create steep angles on many league and tournament conditions.

They say the brighter the color, the deadlier the venom and the new Hyper Venom is no exception.  The color of the Hyper Venom isn’t the only thing that is striking.  This new addition to the Venom line pairs the Gear core with new Propulsion MXR Pearl Reactive coverstock for a lethal combination. Proceed with caution: the new Hyper Venom is the most angular Venom to-date and is deadly on light-moderate volumes of oil. 

The Hyper Venom is the first ball in the Venom line to utilize Propulsion cover technology.  Building from Propulsion cover formulations previously found in the Supra Rally and Nuclear Forge; the Hyper Venom features new Propulsion MXR Pearl Reactive technology.  This cover is tuned to create more down lane motion than the ExJ VIP Sigma, while providing more traction in the oil than a Supra Rally.

• • Speed Dominant Bowlers -  For bowlers who throw the ball hard and/or have lower rev rates, the Hyper Venom is valuable due to its unique combination of core and coverstock.  Many speed dominant bowlers have difficulty using higher RG pearl balls because they struggle to get their ball to hook early enough even in friction.  The fast-spinning Gear core helps in these situations while still having a low enough differential to deal with higher friction environments. 
  • Balanced - The Venom line is a staple in the sport of bowling for balanced bowlers because it is so reliable on moderate oil conditions.  The Hyper Venom gives bowlers a clear and simple step down from their Venom Shock when it is just a bit too smooth in transition or too early on the lane.  Keeping the same core in your hand and simply switching to a cleaner and faster responding coverstock is a great solution to transition in league or tournament play.
  • Rev Dominant - For bowlers whose rev rate outmatches their ball speed, the Hyper Venom will be a great ball for league night on moderate to high friction house shots and moderate length tournament patterns when making the move to steeper angles.

Additionally, speed dominant players benefit greatly from Duramax enhanced coverstocks and the Lethal Venom will serve as a great step down from the Subzero Forge and Evoke for lower oil concentrations or straighter angles.
  • Balanced - The Lethal Venom will be a great benchmark option for balanced bowlers to use as the first ball out of their bag. For balanced bowlers, a smooth, controllable, lower flaring ball is useful for reading an oil pattern and giving a great deal of control early in competition.
  • Rev Dominant - Many rev dominant bowlers need smooth and controllable motion, but struggle to use high differential bowling balls. The significant flare of a high diff ball can often create issues with carry for rev dominant players. WIth the .036 differential of the Lethal Venom, rev dominant players can use something that will respond more slowly to friction on the lane without being hindered by excessive flare.

Speed Dominant Bowlers

When to use

Speed Dominant - Most speed dominant bowlers can use stronger balls earlier than their competitors, but in cases where there is just too much wet/dry on the lane or the oil pattern is quite short, the Shadow Tank is utilized. Additionally, the Duramax additive means that if a speed dominant bowler needs to add surface to their Shadow Tank, it will stay duller longer. This is useful for speed dominant bowlers using MCP coverstocks on challenging patterns.

Short to moderate length patterns where control is of the utmost importance are ideal for balanced bowlers looking to use the Shadow Tank. When shallow angles and control are what the pattern demands, the Shadow Tank is perfect.

Rev Dominant - Most likely, rev dominant players are the ones who will benefit most from the Shadow Tank. The high rev rate to speed ratio makes a low diff ball that doesn’t absorb much oil a great option where balanced and speed dominant bowlers may not see enough ball motion. When there is just too much down lane motion, rev dominant players will be able to go to the Shadow Tank for pattern control.

Speed Dominant Bowlers

For bowlers with higher ball speed and/or lower rev rates, the Nebula will likely serve as an angular ball best used on friction. Speed dominant bowlers require more friction than most, so rather than being a medium oil pearl, the Nebula will likely serve as a medium-dry to dry lane solution when the bowler needs angle.

Balanced Bowlers

When To Use

Speed Dominant Bowlers - For bowlers with exceptional ball speed or lower rpm’s, the Iron Forge should be a great ball for late in league night, second shift, and higher friction environments.  Speed dominant bowlers have the advantage of being able to use stronger cores than the rev dominant bowlers in the same environment much of the time.  The clean and angular Propulsion MXV Pearl cover will offer enough pop down lane on friction, while the fast revving Detonator core should be strong enough to  give substantial motion to the speed dominant bowler.

Balanced Bowlers - Balanced bowlers who love the Evoke Hysteria will love having the Steel Forge to go to when the Hysteria is just a bit too early or smooth.  Balanced bowlers will be able to use the Steel Forge when they start to really create angle on the lane and need a faster response to friction. The substantial flare offered by the Steel Forge gives enough traction in oil, but without sacrificing too much downlane motion. 

Rev Dominant Bowlers - The crankers and two handers will love their ability to use the Steel Forge to create angle and substantial shape on the lane.  The Propulsion MXV Pearl is deliberately quite versatile, as proven last year on the PBA Tour.  Many rev dominant players on tour were able to use this shell even on fresh with some surface and layout adjustments.  Look for the Steel Forge to be useful even in early transition for rev dominant players.
